Today's Prayer

A Prayer To Repent Not Loving Others

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 

For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. 

You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.” (Hebrews 12:1-4)

Everyone of us has a set of goals we want to pursue.

Most of these goals are worldly but admirable ones like, eat healthier, lose weight, travel more, learn new skills, get more money,etc,. 

Unfortunately after setting our minds focusing and working hard to achieve these goals, we fail to pursue the completion of these goals. 

Reading these verses from the Epistle to the Hebrews reminds us of the real and the most important goal that we must focus on first, which is, our spiritual race.

We must set our hearts on running the race set before us, which is, to be in the image and likeness of Christ.

How?

By laying aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us. 

We need to fix our gaze upon Christ the author and finisher of our faith. 

To do this we must resist to bloodshed, striving against sin. 

We have to be filled more and more with the power of the Holy Spirit to be able to resist the devil’s temptation of sin. 

Jesus said resist the devil and he will flee. 

When we are filled with Christ’s resurrection power over sin and death, every other thing we do in our lives will be successful. 

He is the Spirit of success and prosperity. 

He is the Spirit of life and joy that encourages us to fulfill all the good goals in our earthly lives. 

If we abide in Christ we will have His eternal life and be successful on earth as well as be with Him in Heaven eternally. 

Amen.
