Jesus Came To Release Our Bondage To Sin (Hebrews 2:14-17)

“Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham.

Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.” (Hebrews 2:14-17.)

Most Christians believe that if they have faith in Jesus, they are automatically are washed by His precious blood.

Believing and having faith in the name of Jesus is the beginning step in the life of a believer.

After believing we have to receive Jesus in us in the Holy Spirit.

Jesus gave us the meaning of receiving Him by saying, those who love me are the ones who obey my word and command.

When we, by our own free will, trust in Jesus,  surrender our hearts to Him, and humbly submit everything to Him, the Holy Spirit will dwell in us and unite us to Jesus.

Jesus took a flesh like ours, came to our world to confront the devil, our enemy, on the cross, He died and rose from the dead.

Why?  That through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

So Jesus overcame the devil and his power of sin and gave us His overcoming power over sin and death and freed us from the bondage of sin.

He came to cleans us from sin and restore His image and likeness in us.

Now we can stop sinning when we have Jesus in us in the Holy Spirit.

We can overcome the devil’s temptations and be victorious.

So when we say “we are washed by Jesus’ blood” means we have His overcoming power to defeat the devil and his sin.

We are not anymore enslaved by sin and we are free from the devil’s bondage.

We must understand clearly that this cannot happen by just believing in Jesus’ name,  but by the indwelling of Jesus in us and abiding in this unity.

The only way to overcome sin is by having Jesus power in us to defeat him.

Jesus, the begotten Son of Father God,  is the only One who can destroy and abolish the devil who has the power of death.

When we receive Him in us, that is to say, love Him and obey His command, we will be washed by His blood and have His overcoming power over sin and death.

Amen.
