Living as Christ's Fragrance (2Corinthians 2:14 -16)

“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.

For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.

To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life.” (2 Corinthians 2:14-16)

Apostle Paul described Our lives to be Christ-like fragrance rising up to God.

But he explains to us that this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and by those who are perishing.

To those who are perishing, we are a dreadful smell of death and doom.

But to those who are being saved, we are a life-giving perfume.

When we share the message of the gospel, it will be a fragrant perfume to some, but to others it will be offensive and repulsive.

Some people will respond favorably while others will respond unfavorably.

But Apostle Paul draws our attention to the fact that the response of people is not our business, we still need to share the message whatever the response is.

We still need to use every means possible to get the gospel out to as many people as we can.

It is the good news to the whole world.

St. Paul in his epistle to the Romans said how people shall believe in Him of whom they have not heard?

And how shall they hear without a preacher?

And how shall they preach unless they are sent? (Romans 10:14-15)

He continues to cites the words of the prophet Isaiah who said “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!” (Isaiah 52:7) 

May Jesus us give us the power and the ability in the Spirit to preach the Gospel joyfully and be filled with His love for the whole world.
