Freed from Sin and Death Through Christ

Jesus came to free us from the  the law of sin and death and gave us the law of the Spirit of life. 

We read this in the Epistle to the Romans, chapter eight, verse two, ”For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” 

He gave us new commandments that elevate humanity from earthly to heavenly level. 

In the Gospel of Mathew, chapter five, Jesus said, “You have heard that it was said in the old, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 

But I say to you, love your enemies” ( Mathew5:43-44) 

The New Testament reveals that the law of Moses did not succeed in perfecting anything. 

We read in the Epistle of Hebrews, chapter seven, “For on the one hand there is an annulling of the former commandment because of its weakness and unprofitableness, for the law made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.” (Hebrews 7:18-19) 

Therefore, Jesus came to achieve the perfection in us that the law was not able to achieve. 

We read in the Gospel of Mathew, chapter five, “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. 

I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.” (Mathew 5 :17) 

By believing in Jesus and receiving Him in  the Holy Spirit, we became the children of Father God by adoption and attained His righteousness apart from the works of the law. 

We read in the Epistle to the Romans, chapter three, “But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe.” (Romans 3:21) 

Thank you Jesus for giving us yourself and saving us from the law of sin and death.
